Looking good for Labour, says Duff

Michael McNamara is on course to take a seat for Labour in Clare according to his party colleague and Shannon Town Councillor, Greg Duff.

“We’ve 15.2% as is being reported at the count, it looks as if we’ll get a seat, perhaps the third seat, with probably a fight between Tony Mulcahy and Fianna Fáil for the fourth,” he said.

Councillor Duff said he’d also be pleased to see Mulcahy in the Dáil.  “Tony’s a Fine Gael man but he’d be a good man for Shannon. He’d be the first TD ever from Shannon so it’d be fantastic.”

He said he was very pleased with McNamara’s vote. “We’re delighted because there has been a great campaign, we got a lot of people out and we’ve built a structure for the future.”
