Lisdoon appearance for Yngve and The Innocent

ALT-country group Yngve and The Innocent’s new album The Sadness of Remembering is finally being released and the group will play at the Roadside Tavern in Lisdoonvarna next Sunday.

Building on the success of recent singles like Draw a line and You’ll Be Mine, they are drawing upon a wealth of songs that Yngve have been road testing over the last three years.

The album encompasses everything from drunken boozers (You’ve Been Released, You’ll Be Mine and Mr King) to wistful social commentary (Every Man, Free from Fear) to dealing with heartbreak and loss (Weight of Your Finger, Quarantine, Tell Me a Story). However, every track is underpinned by Yngve’s ear for tunes and often brutally honest lyrics.

“Lyrically, the album is reflective, while musically it’s upbeat and positive. It acknowledges that you have to deal with what life throws at you but, rather than reacting blindly, keeping a level head will help get you through your troubles,” said Ynge.

The recording of the album was completely paid for by touring but once the record had been mastered, the band independently raised over €5,000 in presales through fundit.ie, which enabled them to finalise the artwork and get the album replicated.

The album was the last record to be completed in the Hanbury Street premises of Soup Studio.
Brothers Yngve and Demian Wieland form the backbone of Yngve and The Innocent, while they have been through various lineup changes as they have moved from Sligo to Dublin to London, where they have been based for the last four years. Averaging over 100 shows a year, they have had a succession of breakthroughs including airplay on BBC Radio 2, while they played two storming sets at the Official Arthur’s Day celebrations in Dublin last September.

The release of their 2011 single, Draw a Line saw them draw favourable attention and reviews in printed publications such as The Word magazine, Artrocker and Hotpress and kicked off a hectic six months in which the band toured the country four times, not to mention countless UK shows and festival appearances and an eight-date trip to Spain.

This year has seen them undertake their first German tour, playing nine shows in 10 days to a rapturous reception. The band have signed a distribution deal with Proper Music Group, which means the album will be stocked in record stores across Britain and Ireland.
