Kilmaley executive returned


KILMALEY Senior GAA Club held their annual meeting at the clubhouse last week, when Conor Clancy, Steven Clancy and Bernie Burke were returned as chairman, secretary and treasurer respectively, while Gerry Kennedy was appointed as U-21 team manager for 2011.
David Dillon was commended on his outstanding efforts on the yearly publication of the club GAA magazine in chronicling the activities of the Kilmaley club.
Detailed financial reports were delivered by the club treasurer, Bernie Burke and her hard work along with Marie Lynch, assistant treasurer, was recognised by the large attendance.
The fantastic success of the U-14A and U-15B hurlers in bringing silverware to the club was highlighted, along with the involvement of a large number of players with county squads, in particular Daire Keane and Michael O’Neill’s achievement with the Clare minors in reaching the All-Ireland minor final.
The secretary also paid tribute to all involved in helping the club win the Bord na nÓg club of the year award. However, he stressed that even though the club is certainly making strides in the right direction, everyone must ensure that all involved continue to focus on underage player development.
Both the chairperson and secretary paid tribute to all who helped to prepare the teams and also all who coached and trained all other teams in the parish. They also acknowledged all who organised, supported and contributed to the different fundraising events that were held during the year.
The chairman also took the opportunity to recognise Kilmaley’s two club referees, Martin Kennedy and Brian McDonald.
Finally, both the chairman and secretary acknowledged all who were involved in the field development committee in 2010. Despite many setbacks, this group have made huge progress as the club strives to complete the development of a state-of-the-art project.

Naomh Eoin

THE annual general meeting of Naomh Eoin GAA Club was held at Teach Eoin last Sunday and attracted a good attendance. The 37th annual meeting of the club was attended by former players Tom Bonfil, now based in Limerick, and his brother Pat, who is domiciled in Dublin.
Welcoming all, chairman John Bonfil acknowledged all who helped with the training and coaching of the various teams during the year under review. He also acknowledged all who continue to travel long distances to play for the club each year.
Treasurer Kieran Keating referred to the grants received from Munster Council and from the lottery, which has been spent on the draining and upgrading of the pitch at Pairc Eoin. Tributes were paid to Theresa O’Gorman for her work as lottery co-ordinator.
Life president and club founder, Gabriel Keating praised those who serve as officers and also the players for their loyalty to the club. The club has lost 11 players to emigration over the last two years and a huge effort is now required to sustain the club.
Youth officer Martin Downes acknowledged the work being done by coaching officer, John Enright, referring to the Strand Leagues and the West Clare development squads. The amalgamation at U-16 and U-18 levels with O’Currys was very successful and the meeting expressed the wish that the amalgamations will continue.
The meeting paid tribute to long-serving officers, secretary Michael Boland (27 years), treasurer Kieran Keating (17 years) and chairman John Bonfil (seven years).
Many tributes were also paid to West Clare Gaels on their All-Ireland victory. The February meeting will ratify management for the junior team for 2011.

Clonlara

THE annual general meeting of Clonlara minor club will take place on Thursday, January 13 at the Sports Centre at 8.30pm. All parents, mentors and supporters are asked to attend.

Lissycasey

LISSYCASEY GAA Club will hold its annual general meeting at the clubrooms on Friday, January 14 at 8pm. Members will review a year in which the club’s U-14 footballers won the county championship and the Clare Féile titles. All members are urged to attend.

O’Curry’s

THE annual general meeting of O’Curry’s GAA was held at Carrigaholt National School last week when there was a good attendance.
