Keeping it in the family

Shannon Golf Club general manager Mike Corry and his son James achieved a rare distinction at Shannon recently when scoring a hole in one in competition within 24-hours of each other.

Last week, another member of the family joined the hole in one club when Mike’s wife and James’ mother, Connie, aced the eighth hole on the championship course in Lahinch.
She was playing in a fourball that included her husband when her four wood tee shot at the par three landed on the green and disappeared into the hole. Connie plays off a handicap of 19.
Son James, an 11 handicapper, had scored a hole in one in the open singles in Shannon at the par three fourth while, twenty four hours later, Mike, who plays off a handicap of 5, aced the par three 10th.
