Photograph by John KellyHermitage had the best of the early exchanges with a lot of possession inside the Inch half. Andy O’Flynn in the Inch goal made a number of vital interceptions from crosses and showed a safe pair of hands with anything that hit the target.
As the half wore on Inch came more into it and Sean Hehir went close to putting Inch in front on 20 minutes with a well-struck free kick that the Hermitage keeper did well to save.
Niall Seery, Brian McDonnell and Bryan O’Loughlin caused problems for the Hermitage defence and Inch were well in the contest as the game reached half time.
Inch started the second half well and Mark Connellan sent McDonnell through on goal only for the Hermitage keeper to come off his line to make a good interception. Mikey Pyne, David Talty, Sean Hehir and James Rynne were playing very well at the back and coped well with the Hermitage attack.

The game was now end-to-end stuff and Hermitage were throwing everything at Inch in search of a goal.
Their best chances came in the last five minutes with a header that went into the side netting and a shot from inside the box that hit the crossbar in the last minute.
In the opening period of extra time, Inch had the best chance when a good ball from the back by Thomas O’Doherty found Sean Hehir in space. Hehir ran at the Hermitage defence and put in a good cross for O’Loughlin but his left foot effort rebounded off the right post and away to safety.
Hermitage had the best chance of the second period with a shot from outside the box that narrowly missed the target.
In the penalty shoot-out, Inch keeper Andy O’Flynn scored and then saved two penalties, as his side advanced.
