Galway chief super now responsible for Clare

Following the retirement of Clare Garda Chief Mary Fitzgerald earlier this year, The Clare Champion has learned that the Chief Superintendent of Galway, Donal O’Cualáin has had the Clare division added to his administrative role.

It is understood that the Chief Superintendent will be overseeing the Galway and Clare Divisions for the foreseeable future in light of the embargo on hiring and promotions within An Garda Síochána.
A spokesperson for the Garda Press Office has confirmed that this type of dual charge is happening in other areas across the country where chief superintendents are not being replaced.
