Inch Crusaders 3
Kildysart Celtic 2

INCH Crusaders turned in a great second-half performance to recover from being two goals down to defeat Kildysart Celtic in the Second Division at Lees Road on Sunday. Kildysart went in front on 20 minutes when Inch failed to clear a corner and Damian Hill pounced for Kildysart.
Inch pressed hard for an equaliser but were stunned in injury time in the first half when Kildysart caught them on the break to go two clear with Hill again on target. Inch dominated the second half and pulled a goal back on 50 minutes when Padraig Talty scored after good work from Mark Connellan and Gavin Cording created the opportunity.
Inch drew level on 70 minutes when Clinton Keane got on the end of John Clohessy’s header to finish well despite a lot of pressure from the Kildysart defence. Inch went in front on 80 minutes when John Clohessy finished well with a left-footed strike to the right corner after a good passing move involving Sean Hehir and Mikey Pyne created some space on the edge of the box.
Inch thought they had scored a fourth on 85 minutes when Brian McDonnell put away the rebound from a Cording shot that was saved but the referee disallowed the goal for an earlier offside. Kildysart, who finished the game with 10 men after Christy Clancy was sent off, pressed hard in the closing stages for an equaliser but could not find a way past Colm Ryan in the Inch goal.

Kilmaley Utd 1
Rhine Rovers 2

Kilmaley’s recent woes in the league continued in Tiermaclane last Sunday when they lost out to Rhine Rovers in what proved to be an entertaining contest, despite the poor conditions underfoot.
Rhine raced out of the blocks from the kick-off and with the game still in its infancy they struck an early blow when Christy O’Brien ghosted in at the near post to divert home his brother Davy’s low-driven corner for his fourth goal in three games. After a sustained period of Rhine pressure, Kilmaley gradually felt their way into the game and equalised before half-time when Gareth Thompson nodded in a cross at the back post.
Rovers dominated possession again in the second but were finding the second goal difficult to come by until winger Mark Hanrahan struck a sweet volley from the edge of the area after some great work down the wing by Gavin O’Sullivan. Kilmaley moved Thompson into the middle and they suddenly looked more dangerous but Rovers’ backline held firm for a well-merited three points.
Best for Rhine were Eoghan Ryan, Mark Hanrahan and Enda Malone.
Kilmaley: Ger Healy, Pa Sherlock, Gareth Thompson, Noel Healy, Jamie Meehan, Greg O’Flanagan, Sean O’Flanagan, Conor Brennan, Adrian Kelly; Liam Meaney, Phil Noonan.
Subs: Barry O’Donoghue and Owen McNamara.
Rhine Rovers: Rory Callinan, Enda Malone, Paul Johnston, Martin McInerney, Kevin Johnston, Mark Hanrahan, Eoghan Ryan, Keith Whelan, David O’Brien, Christy O’Brien, Sean Heaney.
Subs: Gavin O’Sullivan, Brendan Quinn and Gary Hogan.
