First count expected in minutes

Parties at the count centre have accepted that there is a discrepency of up to 2,000 on the final tally figures released earlier today.

The first count in the Clare constituency is expected in the coming minutes. Early indications are that Independent James Breen will be down on the tally, while Fine Gael candidate Pat Breen is likely to breach the 10,000 vote mark. Sitting Fine Gael TD Joe Carey is also expected to be up as is fellow FG candidate Tony Mulcahy. Labour’s Michael McNamara seems to be nearly 400 up on the Tally figures.

Fianna Fail TD Timmy Dooley’s vote is also expected to increase on the tally as is running mate Dr John Hillery’s.

These figures do not include the up to 500 votes that were disputed or deemed spoiled.
