AN Ennis home carer has been honoured for her work in the Limerick community. Omotola Ifebajo was honoured at a special ceremony at Comfort Keepers’ office in Limerick as a finalist for the Comfort Keepers Carer of the Year 2021 award.

Following the judges’ selection based on set criteria and including online voting, Omotola was chosen as one of twelve finalists in the running for the prestigious accolade of Comfort Keepers Carer of the Year 2021.

Originally from Nigeria, Omotola who lives in Ennis is a mother of four children and has been a carer for Comfort Keepers for over five years. She became a carer after taking care of her own mum, an experience that showed her how vulnerable the elderly can be and the difference home support can make to their lives.

According to the nominations from co-workers and clients, Omotola is amazing at her job. She is caring and very reliable. She has so much patience and kindness and is a lovely easy going person, ‘nothing fazes her’.

In addition, fellow carers/home support workers, Mary Breen and June Carroll both received recognition awards for their 10 years of service.

On being nominated for this year’s award, Omotola said, “I am delighted to have been nominated this year. I am proud of what I do – my favourite thing about my role is building a relationship with my clients and looking after them in their homes where they feel the most comfortable. It’s a great honour to be recognised for the work I love.”

Collette Gleeson, Managing Director at Comfort Keepers Ireland said,“Our carers are amazing individuals and a vital resource providing outstanding, personal and relationship-based care and support to the most vulnerable in our society and their families all across Limerick, Clare and North Tipperary.

“Their hard work and passion have been particularly valued since the onset of the global pandemic, with people wanting to stay safe and happy at home for as long as possible.

“Omotola has done fantastic work in the community across the last year and throughout her caring career, making a positive impact on her clients’ daily lives. She goes above and beyond for her clients and is very dedicated and passionate about her career. She is a great representative for Comfort Keepers and our quality care.”
