CAMOGIE

Rice College     7-13
St Anne’s         0-0

Rice College Ennis (pictured, right) played Killaloe side St Anne’s in the Clare Schools Junior Girls Camogie final last week at the Éire Óg grounds.
Weather conditions were difficult with a very strong wind blowing diagonally across the field. Rice College played with the wind in the first half. Scores were proving difficult to get in the first quarter as St Anne’s defence was strong.
Even though Rice had a lot of possession they scored just 1-2. They began to capitalise on that possession in the second quarter where they scored a further 2-3 leaving the half time score at 3-5 to 0-0.
Playing into the wind in the second half, Rice continued to dominate from the throw in and tacked on some good scores to run out convincing winners
The shield was presented to the team captain Rebecca Devine.

The team was: Clodagh Burke, Lisa Green, Karen Roche (Éire Óg); Louise McDonald (Ruan); Jessica Leamy, (Clooney Quin); Megan O’Brien, Fiona Touhy, Michelle Nihill, Orlaith Lynch, Eimear Casey, Rebecca Devine (capt) (Doora Barefield); Rebecca Cahill, Rebecca Connellan (Kilmaley); Fiona Murphy (Sixmilebridge); Laura Fitzgerld (Inagh/Kilnamona).
The subs were: Aishling Doyle, Caoimhe Morrisey (Ballyea); Laura Chesser, Amy Broderick, Karen Kennedy, Grainne Hennessey (Éire Óg); Ciara  Fitzgerld (Inagh/Kilnamona); Samara O’Callaghan (Clarecastle); Aoife Talty, Clionna O’Loughlin, Caoimhe O’Halloran (Kilmaley); Ornaith Hanratty, Aoife Lydon and Orlaith Martin.
