Countdown to Clare Conquest begins

The 30 participants in the fundraising White Collar Boxing event hit the canvas this week at Ennis Boxing Club as their first training session got underway.

There was plenty of sweat but the boxers nobly kept the tears at bay on this occasion.
Ollie, dubbed ‘the man you’ll grow to hate’, pushed them to their limits and promised much more of the same in order to get them fighting fit for November 26, when they take to the ring at The Queens venue for fight night.
The group arrived in good spirits but the reality is that the next eight weeks will be dedicated to a tough regime of training, watching their nutrition intake and sacrificing some of the finer things in life.
All 30, from a cross-section of Clare society, are putting themselves up for this event to raise funds for the dual hosts, Clare Crusaders and Ennis Chamber.
Clare Crusaders continues to provide much-needed speech and language services for special needs children at a clinic they operate solely on contributions from the general public and business community. They are proving to be an invaluable resource to Clare families as public services fail to cope with demand.
Ennis Chamber are dedicated to representing small and medium businesses in the town in the fight to attract tourism and industry to Ennis, contain costs and prevent erosion of public services to members’ customers.
Tickets for Clare Conquest can be purchased at Ennis Chamber.
CEO Rita McInerney, one of the boxers at training last night, said tickets are already selling well and encouraged anybody interested to call in as soon as possible to ensure they can attend what promises to be a great night’s entertainment.
