The new service will be provided by Manx2.com, which is an Isle of Man-based airline and the new service will be its first time providing an air service in the Republic of Ireland.
At the launch in Galway Airport, Noel Hayes, chairman of Manx2, said, “We have great confidence in the future for the Irish economy and are delighted to bring our award-winning service to both Galway and Cork. With 14 flights per week to Cork, we will improve connectivity between Galway and the West and Cork and Kerry, bringing each of the regions’ many attractions within easy reach for everyone.”
He went on to say, “Manx2.com has planned its flight schedule to and from Cork to suit all passengers, whether they are travelling on business or leisure”.
Michael Corless, chairman of Galway Airport, in welcoming the news, said, “We are delighted to be able to offer this additional air connectivity between Galway and Cork and this further opens up regional air access within the island of Ireland.”
“The schedule for this new service is in response to market demand for day return business trips, as well as weekend breaks in either Galway or Cork,” he added.
Joe Walsh, managing director at Galway Airport, said, “Another benefit of this new double daily service to Cork Airport is that it further expands on the connectivity options available from Galway Airport for the business community, with access to destinations like Amsterdam, Barcelona, Geneva and Paris.”
