St Senan’s    2-7    Lissycasey    1-6
The value of experience, particularly at the beginning of the season, was highlighted at Kilkee on Sunday as the home side got their Garry Cup campaign off to a winning start when they overcame Lissycasey.
With a side containing nine players under the age of 20, the visitors found it difficult to match the guile of such as David Russell, Dara Kelly, Derek De Loughrey, Barry Harte, Kevin Larkin and Michael O’Shea to mention some.
Lissycasey got off to a dream start with a well take goal from David Considine after just thirty seconds. By half time, the home side had taken a one-point lead helped by a Derek De Loughrey goal shortly before the short whistle.
A Chris Williamson goal early in the second half put them on the road to victory on a day when Lissycasey wasted a number of excellent scoring chances. The missed opportunities came from places balls including a penalty inside the last quarter that Kevin Harte saved.
