A Cooraclare man captured an All-Ireland Scór title at the INEC, Killarney, at the weekend, flying the colours of his adopted county of Kildare.

Before an audience of more than 1,200 people, Paul Mescall won the recitation award with his performance of A Man’s Game, a humorous account of a son who disappoints his football-mad father.
Paul, a son of Mairéad and the late Michael Mescall, Cree, is a school teacher at Scoil na Mainistreach, Celbridge.
The piece, which concludes on a hopeful note after 41 years of a strained father-son relationship, was written for Paul by journalist and broadcaster, Liam Horan.
In 2000, amateur drama enthusiast Paul was voted best actor at the all-Ireland drama finals for his depiction of Eddie Tansey in The Salvage Shop.
“I am absolutely thrilled with this win,” he said.
“Last year, I reached the Leinster final and that whetted my appetite for more,” Paul added.
Scór is a very popular cultural activity for many people involved in the GAA, culminating in the All-Ireland final, which packed out the INEC.
“The standard in every competition is extremely high but I was happy with my performance on the night.
“It was a very special moment when my name was announced as winner,” the Cooraclare man revealed.
Paul, who represented the
Maynooth club, has been invited to perform the piece at Celbridge GAA Club’s awards presentation event this Thursday night.
