CLOONEY-Quin GAA Club will be holding a dating night with a difference as 10 local men are hoping to persuade one of 30 girls to take them out as part of a fundraising initiative by the club.
Take Me Out will follow the same format as the television series but with a local feel. The fundraiser will be held on March 26 in the West County Hotel in Ennis from 7.30pm and will also include a disco afterwards.
For those who have never seen Take Me Out, the aim of the dating game is for one single man to try to impress as many women from a selection of 30 single women.
However, the twist is that each woman has a light which she can turn off if she is unimpressed by the man. His aim is to convince as many women as possible to keep their lights on so that he can then pick, from the women remaining, the one that he wishes to take on a date.
If there is one woman left, then the two go on a date, but if there are no lights are left on then the man must leave the show without a date.
In order to keep the attention of the women, the single man must attempt to show off a talent he has to impress the women, this can include a song, dance, or other such party piece. If there is more than one women remaining at the end of this process then he must turn off the lights of those remaining until he is left with two. He then asks a question of both women and based on their answers, he chooses who he would like to take on a date by turning off the light of the woman he is no longer interested in.
The Clooney-Quin fundraiser version of Take Me Out will be hosted by Colin Walker who will bring the production to the West County Hotel. Meanwhile, camera man Pascal Brooks will be logging video footage of the couples who end up going on a date to see how they get on.
The entertaining production will see 30 women ages between 18 and 34 vying for a date, while up to 10 men will be in the hot seat trying to secure a date.
The event is aiming to pair up eight couples who will go to a green room for their date, and they will then update the rest of the grouping throughout the night on how their date is going.
There will also be a holiday up for grabs for one lucky female participant.
The funds raised from Take Me Out will be used to improve facilities for the Clooney-Quin club and tickets are available in Quin Post Office, Barden’s Pharmacy, Quin, Clooney Stores, Seoidín Eile on Abbey Street, Ennis as well as from club members and on the door at the event. More details about the event and ticket prices can be obtained by emailing clooneyquintakemeout@gmail.com.
