Clarecastle club hosts girls finals


Last weekend Clarecastle played host to the girls county handball singles championships. In excess of 40 players from different clubs in the county gathered to compete in the A and B competitions, highlighting the strength of the game in the county.
Two finals have yet to be decided and they will be played this week.
This week sees the trials commencing for the secondary schools Munster competition which will commence in early February.
Meanwhile, Clare’s top minor players such as Ciaran Malone and Jamie Lynch will be in action this week along with a host of other bright young county stars as they seek to try an capture the minor county title.
The county B boys singles competitions got underway also last weekend, with each club in the county hosting a particular age bracket. These will be run over the next couple of weekends culminating in a weekend final action which will feature all age brackets.

U-16A: Alice Akers beat Stacey Wright
