TWENTY-two years after first lining up for the Clare team in the 1989 Rás Tailteann, John Hassett took the honours in the A4 category in Rás Luimní last Sunday.
Also rolling back the years was another member of the 1989 Rás team, Philip Colleran, who travelled to Limerick as part of a hopeful Dolmen CC contingent in the A3 race.
In that race, Dolmen and West Clare rode aggressively at the front all day, hopeful of getting one of their men into a breakaway. The flat course ensured the bunch were able to reel in any attacks and it all came down to a bunch finish where Dolmen’s Aidan Considine was led out for fourth place by team mate Robert Reidy.
Gary McDonald (Dolmen CC) and Damien Roche (West Clare) were eight and tenth respectively behind overall winner Martin Cullinane of Comeragh CC.
Clare teams and riders head to next week’s Silver Pail Cup in Fermoy in confident mood.
