Kildysart  2-9   Ballyvaughan  0-13
Substitute Christy Clancy was the hero for Kildysart at Corofin on Sunday when he kicked a goal a minute from the end to give his side victory in this intermediate championship second round tie.

It was cruel luck on Ballyvaughan who had played some excellent football as they battled to keep their hopes of progress alive
Kildysart scored first through John Clancy but Ballyvaughan replied with five-in-a-row from John Martyn (3), Kevin Carrucan and Phelim Kyne by the twentieth minute.
In just over a minute, Kildysart went from being four points down to being one ahead when they hit 1-2, the goal coming from Keith Murphy. They went on to lead by two points, 1-6 to 0-7, at half time.
Within five minutes of the resumption, Ballyvaughan had drawn level. Points were exchanged twice in the next 15 minutes leaving the sides tied (1-8 to 0-11) with eight minutes remaining.
Inside the last five minutes, Stevie Hynes and John Martyn edged the North Clare side ahead and a win looked to be on the cards for them. A minute remained when Kildysart substitute Christy Clancy broke through for the vital goal. In the fourth minute of ‘injury time’ Ger Kelly sealed victory for Kildysart when he landed a point.

FOR the second time in a few weeks, O’Callaghan’s Mills intermediate footballers tasted defeat by the minimum margin in this season’s championship race.
Having lost to Corofin in round one, they needed to win on Sunday last when they came up against Kilmurry-Ibrickane at Éire Óg but another one point defeat was their lot on the day, a result which ends their hopes of winning the title this year.
The Mills started well with Bryan Donnellan pointing and Paul Lynch then added a goal. soon after this they had their second goal which came from Conor Cooney who reacted quickest when Pat Donnellan’s effort rebounded off the upright.
Aidan Moloney junior had Kilmurry’s first half goal and at half time they trailed by two, 1-4 to 2-3.
Kilmurry had early second half points from Thomas O’Connor and Thomas Lernihan before they took the lead with a goal from O’Connor following a great run by John Darcy.
The Mills tried hard to get back into contention but they could only manage a brace of points from Paul Lynch as Kilmurry held on for victory.

St Breckan’s won this North Clare derby at Ennistymon on Saturday evening and, as a result, secured a semi-final spot in the intermediate football championship.
It was a hard-fought tie throughout and it was clear from an early stage that there wouldn’t be much between the teams at the end.
The sides went to the break level at 0-3 each but the Lisdoonvarna side edged in front in the second half.
Pat Nagle was their top scorer with 0-4 while their other points came from Michael Hogan (2), John McDonagh and John Stack with Corofin’s replies coming from Darren Malone (3), Colm Clancy and John Keane.

Clondegad  2-22   Clooney-Quin  1-1
THE line-up for the semi-finals of the intermediate football championship moved a step closer to completion on Wednesday evening when Clondegad secured their place thanks to a run-away win over Clooney-Quin.
Three of the four semi-finalists are now known and the last spot will be filled on Saturday week when Corofin and Kilmurry-Ibrickane clash with the winners going through.
Competition favourites Clondegad moved into the last four when they defeated Clooney-Quin in a rearranged tie on Wednesday evening. The match was scheduled for last Sunday but the absence of appointed referee Brian Keniry led to a rescheduling of the fixture.
As the scoreline suggests, Clondegad were never troubled in this latest outing. They had their semi-final spot sealed long before John Brew sounded the final whistle.
Playing with the aid of the wind, they were seven points clear inside 10 minutes and when the half-time whistle sounded, they had extended this advantage to 13. They could have had two goals in this half, however, but poor ball-handling cost them dearly.
A Clooney-Quin goal inside the opening minute of the second half failed to break the Ballynacally side’s dominance and they continued as they had played in the first half adding another 1-11 to their tally.
Gary Brennan, Brian Carigg, Paudge McMahon, Shane Brennan and Kenneth Kelly caused huge problems for a Clooney-Quin outfit that, on the evidence of this display at least, look to be on their way back down to junior. Shane and Mike McNamara, Trevor Lee and Cathal Egan tried hard throughout for the losers.
Clondegad: Declan O’Loughlin; Cormac Ryan, Brian Murphy Flan Enright; Kieran Browne (0-1), Brian Carigg, Seán Clohessy; Gary Brennan (0-2), Cormac Murphy; James Murphy, Paudge McMahon (1-9), Rory Clohessy; Frankie Nealon (0-1), Shane Brennan (1-1), Kenneth Kelly (0-6).
Subs: Owen Donlon (0-1) for R Clohessy; Paddy O’Connell for B Murphy.
Clooney-Quin:
Martin McInerney; Ger Leamy, Shane McNeilis, Conor McCarthy; Mark O’Halloran, Mike McNamara, Dara Hannon; Cathal Egan, Trevor Lee; John Earls, Fergal Doyle, Niall Hehir; Malachy Murray (1-0), Pat Gardiner, Ryan O’Neill (0-1).
Subs: Gary Hogan for Earls; Paul Clune for Leamy; Brian Kennedy for O’Halloran; Niall Ruttle for Hehir.
Referee: John Brew, Kilmurry-Ibrickane.
