Charity cycle to raise funds for Brain Tumour Ireland and Caheralla Hospice

AN Ennis woman is urging others to get on their bike to support a charity cycle in aid of two worthy causes this December. Liz Constantinescu is among a group of people who are planning on taking on a 500km cycle relay to raise funds for Brain Tumour Ireland and Cahercalla Hospice.
Liz tells us that they are doing the cycle in honour of a friend, and they are hoping that others will follow them in taking up the challenge. “The money raised for Brain Tumour Ireland will go towards researching advances in brain tumour treatment and supporting the brave patients and their families. The donations to Cahercalla Hospice will help to improve the quality of life of their patients.
“We are doing it in honour of a close friend who is currently unwell, but continues to face her diagnosis with such bravery and dignity and always a smile on her face. Feeling heartbroken and helpless in the face of this devastating disease, we are trying to do something positive to help create a different future for others.
“Our friend has always enjoyed cycling – so it seems fitting to do a cycle relay for these two very good causes. The goal is to cycle a total of 500km before December 5, 2021, with as many participants as possible cycling a leg each. We want to make sure everyone is safe, so we’re keeping it Covid-friendly: we’d like as many people as possible to join in individually ‘virtually’ and a few people to join us on the day itself.”
She adds, “Remember, you don’t have to be fit, just fun! To join in, all you have to do is hop on a bike and cycle as much or as little as you like, on your own, with your family, or even at the gym. Any time of your choosing between now and December 12 and enter via https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bikeforbraintumours. Share the event with your friends if you wish, and tell us on Whatsapp, Facebook or on the Justgiving page how many km you have cycled or pledge to cycle!
“A small team of us will be cycling the remainder of the 500km in 15km legs, on the morning of Sunday, December 5. But I for one am not the fittest, so any amount of kilometres people can clock up before then would be greatly, greatly appreciated. I hope as many people as possible will get on their bikes and have some fun cycling over the next couple of weeks for this great cause.”
If anybody does want to join in and cycle with the group on Sunday, December 5, whatsapp Liz on 0862232922 for details.
