Chaplin returns as chairman at Cratloe GAA Club


FORMER chairman, Jack Chaplin has returned as chairman of Cratloe GAA Club. He takes over from Pat O’Gorman, who replaced him in the position three years ago.
At a well-attended annual general meeting in the boardroom of the sports hall last week, O’Gorman stepped down after completing his three-year term. Many tributes were paid to him for his work during the most successful period in the club’s history.
Eileen Murphy takes over from Dublin-based James Enright as the club’s assistant treasurer. Otherwise, the executive is unchanged from last year.
The meeting was told that the finances are in a healthy state and tributes were paid to treasurer Mary Considine for her work, while the support from people of the parish was acknowledged.
The meeting decided to consider the possibility of fielding a junior football team and also the provision of a second playing field.

Sixmilebridge

Tributes were paid to outgoing treasurer, Christy O’Connor, who stepped down from the position after five years at the annual general meeting of Sixmilebridge GAA last Sunday.
The meeting was held in the new clubhouse meeting room and attracted a good attendance
Other officers who did not seek re-election were John O’Meara Junior and Tom Sheehan, with both being thanked for their efforts over the years
At the meeting, members received reports on the year’s activities from secretary, Rory Liddane and the chairman, PJ Fitzpatrick, in addition to a comprehensive financial report from treasurer, Christy O’Connor. On the development front, during the past year, 1,200 seats were installed in the Tommy Morey memorial stand at O’Garney Park and those present at the meeting were informed by development chairman, Paddy Meehan that the development is nearing completion.
On the playing front, the respective managers of last year’s adult teams reported on a year that saw the seniors capture the Clare Champion Cup and the Junior B’s win their championship. The position of the Intermediate and Junior A management teams, along with the election of an officer for the new position of alcohol and substance abuse officer will be discussed at a re-convened AGM in January.

Michael Cusack’s

The annual general meeting of Michael Cusack GAA Club took place in Gleann Cíosóg recently and attracted a good attendance. Welcoming the attendance, chairman, Gerard Kerin paid tribute to his fellow officers, team trainers, players and parents. He also acknowledged the efforts of those who organised, supported and contributed to the different fundraising events that were held during the year and congratulated the Michael Cusack players who were part of the successful Clan Lir U-14 team.
A comprehensive secretary’s report was delivered by Marian O’Loughlin detailing all the club activities on and off the field. Treasurer, Ann Marie Howard illustrated the healthy state of the club finances in her detailed account, Lughaidh Kerin was congratulated on his annual club newsletter

Newmarket

The posts of treasurer, assistant treasurer and public relations officer weren’t filled at the annual general meeting of Newmarket-on-Fergus GAA Club last week.
However, members are confident that the positions will be filled this week. Outgoing treasurer, Theresa Ryan stepped down after three years in the position.
Outgoing chairman, Pat Keogh and secretary, Brian Enright were returned for another term. Bob Enright was re-appointed as senior hurling manager while Tomas Ryan, manager of last year’s title-winning minor A team, will take charge of the U-21 side this season.
The officers for 2011 are: chairman, Pat Keogh; vice-chairman, Tommy Gregan; secretary/registrar, Brian Enright; assistant secretary, John O’Looney; county board delegate, Mike Clancy; senior manager, Bob Enright; U-21 manager, Tomas Ryan.

Inagh-Kilnamona

The Inagh-Kilnamona hurling club will hold an EGM on Monday, January 31 in Inagh Community Centre at 8.30pm.
All existing and new members are asked to attend.

Tubber

Tubber GAA Club will hold its annual general meeting at the clubhouse this Friday night at 8pm, when plans for 2011 will be formulated.

Lissycasey

This Friday, members of Lissycasey GAA Club will gather at the club’s meeting room to review a year in which the club captured the U-14A championship and the County Féile Peil titles. All members are urged to attend.
The club’s adult footballers are set to commence their training schedule for 2011 this Saturday.
