Tuohy save pulled the game from the fire for the Banner

FOR a brief moment early in the last quarter of Sunday’s final, Clare manager John Minogue worried that they might not get the victory they were chasing.  “When Kilkenny went two points clear, I was concerned. It took a fantastic save from Donal Tuohy to keep us in the game. We were on the rack a little bit at that stage but we steadied the ship,” he reflected moments after Sunday’s final.

Banner ladies beat Kilmihil

Banner Ladies 4-10  Kilmihil 2-7 A GAME Kilmihil side couldn’t make home advantage count last Saturday evening as the Banner ladies retained their title in scorching conditions. They were made work hard for it, but the Banner were the better side and had a bit more balance, along with a few really dangerous forwards. In one sense, their victory is even more impressive when one takes into account that they played most of the second half with 14, as Michelle Delaney was first sin binned and then red-carded within three minutes of returning.

Cooraclare tear away from Miltown

Cooraclare 4-13  Miltown 1-4 THE second half of the senior B final turned into a rout on Saturday, with Cooraclare scoring 10 times and Miltown raising just one flag. While Cooraclare supporters wouldn’t have expected it to become so one-sided, at half-time their side already looked the superior outfit as they were more composed in possession and had more incisive forwards.
