12th Tulla Scouts invested into national movement

The 12th Clare Tulla Scouts group were invested at a special ceremony in East Clare last Sunday. The group of 26 beavers and 30 cubs, along with their 14 scout leaders, were invested into the Scouting Ireland organisation at St Joseph’s Secondary School hall last weekend.

14 vacancies to be filled on Kilrush FÁS scheme

IN response to an article in last week’s Clare Champion, regarding the possible loss of 15 people from 23 on the FÁS Community Employment Scheme based at Kilrush Youth Centre, the Department of Social Protection has said 14 vacancies have to be filled on the new scheme.

Medal success for Clare lifesavers

LOCAL lifesavers were among the medal-winning teams to return from Australia’s World Lifesaving Championships. A team of five women and six men representing their country returned home triumphantly, having won a number of medals and broken a world record in Adelaide. All the medallists, with the exception of one, were from Clare.

Couple object to Finavarra shed extension

AN appeal has been lodged with An Bord Pleanála after Clare County Council granted planning permission for retention permission for an extension to an existing agricultural shed at Finavarra, along with permission for the lowering of existing roofline of the extension and completion of works.
