West on Track for Tuam link

The West on Track campaign has called on the Government to commit funding to proceed with the second phase of the Western Rail Corridor before the general election. The call came after Minister for Social Protection, Eamon Ó Cuív, said he hoped to see planning and design of Phase 2 of the WRC completed in 2011.

Fine Gael keeping the lid on possible candidates

FINE Gael has yet to reveal the names of any additional candidates it will run alongside the sitting TDs in the next General Election. While it is anticipated that the party will run at least three candidates, the pool of possible candidates deepened this week as former Mayor Tony Mulcahy expressed his interest in becoming a Fine Gael TD for the county.
