Exhibition of award-winning artist

Fran McCann’s interest in art began developing at a young age and inspired by Irish mythology and music, he has since exhibited his works around the world. The Lough Cultra resident’s work is currently being shown in Australia and Italy but he has also exhibited in Irish and international galleries including The Quadreria Gallery in Italy, The Dolmabahce Palace Museum in Istanbul, The Art Domain in Leipzig, Germany as well as in Ireland at the Kenny Gallery Galway and Cancer Care West. Fran has received a number of international awards in recent years and this month brings a selection of his work to the Kenny Art Gallery in Lahinch. The talented painter is a member of Trevisan International Art (TIA) in Northern Italy, an exclusive forum for contemporary artists curated by Paola Trevisan. “I became a member of the TIA about six years ago. Poems of a life’s journey

AN Ennis-based nun has released her first poetry book, with poems of her life journey from her childhood in County Wexford to her life in Clare.Sr Carmel Kehoe, originally from Lacken, near New Ross, has been living in Water Park View, Ennis, for 16 years and believes that she is the only St John of God nun west of the River Shannon. Sr Carmel is a resource teacher in Dangan National School in East Clare.While her book, which was launched this week, Angels of God Come to Meet Her, is her first poetry book, it is actually her second book. Her book of short stories, which she brought out a number of years ago, was titled Canticles of Word and Colour. County Fleadh time in Kilfenora

THE Clare Fleadh begins this weekend in Kilfenora and continues to Monday, June 21. The organising branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, Kilfenora Comhaltas, is working hard to ensure a great weekend of traditional music.The event will bring 1,500 competitors to the village taking part in traditional music sessions with musicians of all ages and instruments of all sizes and competitions for all abilities.The festivities will commence on Sunday with a sponsored walk followed by refreshments and the official opening of the Clare Fleadh in the Burren Centre. On Wednesday next, there will be a session in Linnane’s Pub from 9pm with past members of the Kilfenora Céilí Band providing ceol agus craic. Following this, there will be sessions in Vaughan’s and Nagle’s Pubs. Thursday will see a set dancing céilí with the Four Courts Céilí Band in Vaughan’s Barn. Hannah Montana to show up in Glór

The popular songs and dance routines from Hannah Montana and High School Musical are coming to Ennis next month as Glór hosts a tribute show on July 3.The Hannah Montana & High School Musical Show comes to Ennis direct from a sell-out nationwide tour. This foot stompin’, all singin’ and dancin’ feast has a broad appeal and promises to have mums and dads on their feet. The production is packed with a wide selection of anthems by teen sensation Miley Cyrus, as well as favourite sing-a-long songs from the film phenomena of High School Musical 1, 2 and 3. This stage performance is the culmination of three months’ intensive choreography, vocal coaching and drama rehearsals, which is brought to the public by a team of fully trained young actors and performers.
