Canadians read all about Clare

More than 120,000 Ensemble Vacations readers in Canada are learning about Clare and the Wild Atlantic Way. The current edition of the glossy lifestyle magazine includes a four-page spread dedicated to counties Clare and Kerry.

Tourism Ireland invited the author of the article to visit last year. The resulting article – which appears under the headline “Catching craic on the Wild Atlantic Way” – describes “this epic coastal drive”, the Cliffs of Moher and the “rocky beaches and grassy fields” of County Clare, as well as the Burren, which is “punctuated with wildflowers, perfect for hiking”.

The article also describes a wonderful meal prepared by Cathleen Connole at Burren Fine Wine & Food in Ballyvaughan, as well as the fish in the Burren Smokehouse, which is “as moist, flaky and plump as I could hope for”. The author also visits Lisdoonvarna, where she enjoys “a traditional Irish drum and flute performance” which is “a delight”.

In 2014, almost 8,000 print, online and broadcast articles and stories delivered positive messages about Ireland to potential visitors around the world. Tourism Ireland estimates that this exposure was worth approximately €290 million.

Dana Welch, Tourism Ireland’s manager Canada, said: “We are delighted with the coverage in the latest edition of Ensemble Vacations magazine, which is an excellent way of showcasing County Clare and the Wild Atlantic Way to a large audience of potential holidaymakers. Tourism Ireland in Canada undertakes a busy publicity programme each year, to raise the profile of the destination and the many things to see and do on a holiday in Ireland.”
