Bulgaria and Ireland meet at Glór

GLÓR will host an unusual collaboration of traditional music from Ireland and Bulgaria in conjunction with Denis Liddy and Tigh na Coille on Friday, November 6, at 7.30pm.

This union of two rich musical heritages has been made possible by Newmarket-on-Fergus native, Denis Liddy, who has been immersed in music and playing the fiddle since he was eight years old.
A primary school teacher, Denis has also been teaching music in the Barefield area since 1989. He has not only been instrumental in teaching and inspiring students to play traditional music but has also broadened students experience and exposure to music through his recordings, concert performances, competitions and international touring.
While Denis was playing with his own group Tigh na Coille in Shiroka Laka, situated in the heart of the Rhodopian Mountains, rich in Bulgarian heritage, customs and culture, he was introduced to Stoimen Dobrov, a musician of the highest standards and teacher par excellence. Four years later the fantastic Bulgarians have come to tour in County Clare bringing with them a vibrant mix of music, dance and song in the most beautiful costumes you have ever seen.
The traditional music of Ireland and Bulgaria commences in Glór on Friday November 6 at 7.30pm. On the following day, Saturday, Denis will lead a fiddle workshop with an offer available to those who book the show and the masterclass. For booking information contact Glór on 065-6843103.
