SHANNON Town Council is looking for applications for both the Community Grants Scheme and the Liosta na Laochra awards.
Nominees for the Liosta na Laochra awards must have achieved national or international recognition during the year. Potential nominees must be resident within the functional area of Shannon Town Council or have achieved their national/international recognition with a club, society or organisation operating within the town council’s functional area.
With regard to the Community Grants scheme for this year, the council stated, “Shannon Town Council will consider applications for grant assistance in respect of projects designed to improve the quality of life for the people of Shannon.
“The project to be grant aided must show a clear community focus. Applications are open to organisations, voluntary groups and residents associations within the functional area of Shannon Town Council.”
The project must be related to the undertaking of special community projects, artistic proposals or projects, which generate civic pride and involve local people in the improvement of Shannon.
Before grant assistance is awarded, applications must have submitted documentation detailing the project content, along with details of costs plans and supporting documentation. They must show the project is well planned and give indications of potential future uses of the project.
Groups who were grant aided in previous years and who have failed to return documented proof of expenditure will not be considered for grant aid this year.
The closing date for receipt of completed applications for the Community Grants Scheme and for receipt of nominations for the Liosta na Laochra awards is Thursday, September 29.
