Application for Kilkishen houses

Plans to develop a further 16 houses in a Kilkishen estate have been lodged with Clare County Council in the past week.

Planning permission for the proposed development is being sought by Jim Woods Building Contractor Ltd and relates to the Cluain na Laoi estate in the village.
The application proposes to construct 16 houses in eight blocks of semi-detached houses, along with associated site works and connection to services and will add to the 58 houses already in Cluain na Laoi.
In a document to the planning authority, Mr Richard Woods wrote on behalf of Jim Woods Building Contractor that the plans proposed would be the final phase of the existing Cluain na Laoi estate.
In the letter, he states, “Please note that Jim Woods Building Contractors Ltd is applying to Clare County Council for 16 residential units at our existing site in Kilkishen. As we have completed all other units under P01-1177 and have only two remaining, we now wish to complete this development and erect more houses for sale.
“As the units are in the final phase of the original development, all existing services, roads and public footpaths and lighting are being used to facilitate the last section of development,” Mr Woods stated.
Speaking to The Clare Champion Mr Woods stated that the company currently employs 12 people and this development would to help retain those jobs.
“The existing estate is finished and now we would like to finish the final phase of development.
“There are 58 houses there currently and these last 16 houses were always planned. If we get planning permission for these houses we expect they will create jobs, even if that just means maintaining the 12 jobs we have,” he said.
