Lissycasey were crowned All-Ireland novelty act champions at the Scór na nÓg national finals in Castlebar on Saturday.

It was the Clare club’s first All-Ireland success at this level. They previously won All-Ireland honours at senior level when Tara McNamara won the solo singing title in 1994.
The winner’s sketch, The Hurling Season, was written and produced by Anne Hayes, the club and county Scór secretary. The members of the group are Gillian Cummins, Miriam Daly, Ava O’Malley, Orla and Áine McSweeney and Kieran Moroney.
Lissycasey also competed in the set-dancing final but the honours went to the Connacht champions from Galway.
The members of the Lissycasey team, trained by Helen Hehir and Niamh Normoyle, are Killian Normoyle, Paraic Neylon, Oisín Hanrahan, Kieran Moroney, Elizabeth Kelly, Maura Garry, Orla McSweeney and Rebecca Hill.
Clare also competed in the solo singing (Claire McDonnell, Ruan) and recitation (Nicole Downes, Cooraclare) finals in Castlebar.
Meanwhile, only four clubs were represented at the senior finals in Fahy Hall, Roslevan last Sunday.
Sixmilebridge captured two titles, ballad group and solo singing (Stephen O’Dea), while Cratloe (question time), Lissycasey (instrumental music) and Paul Whelan, Shannon Gaels (recitation) were the others who qualified to represent the county in the provincial competition.
