A night of singing at O’Donohue’s

THE second Fanore Songnight of the 2010/2011 season will be held on Friday, February 18. Starting at 9.30pm, the venue is, as always, O’Donohue’s Pub in Fanore.

Special guest on the night will be Andy Guthrie, one of the great singers in North Clare, with a rich and varied repertoire, from great ballads to humorous ditties, with which he has delighted many an audience at festivals and singing sessions over the years.
“During one of the group’s recent song nights, his moving version of The Colleen Bawn brought to mind a line from Tim Dennehy’s tribute to the late Tom Lenihan, in which he calls that great singer ‘a master craftsman, at ease with his craft’.
“This description certainly also applies to Andy Guthrie of Lisdoonvarna.  We look forward to an interesting night, where all singers will of course be welcome,” said Willem Verhulst of Fanore Songnights.
Michael Clerkin is the new fear an tí. For further information, call Patsy Carrucan (065 7076154), Willem Verhulst (065 7076244) or Pat O’Donohue (065 7076119), or visit www.fanore-info.com.
