Kilrush Community School 1-8  Rice College 1-7

KILRUSH Community School defeated Rice College in the Clare Colleges senior football final played in Kilmihil last Monday. This was Kilrush’s first senior Clare colleges title since 1991.
The winners shaded a competitive and entertaining game in which both defences dominated for large spells. Kilrush stated bright with points from Gearóid Looney and Calum Bond. After ten minutes Rice College drew level and led by 1-3 to 0-3 close to half-time.
However a Ruairí Norrby goal brought Kilrush back into contention and they trailed by just two points at the interval, Rice College 1 -5 Kilrush 1-3.
An evenly contested second half resulted in scores being exchanged on both side with Ruaira Norrby, Calum Bond and Ross Cullinan scoring for Kilrush. Intense pressure from Kilrush in the last five minutes resulted in a great movement being finished off by Conn Prendeville for the equalising score.
