10 Clare companies fold


A total of 10 County Clare businesses are reported to have gone into liquidation or receivership in the first three months of the year.
Eight of the businesses trade in the construction and property sectors and, according to The Clare Herald website, one of the most high-profile firms to go into receivership was Ennis-based Keco Construction, which was established by local businessmen Michael Cotter and Eugene Keane in 1998.
Meanwhile, statistics released by InsolvencyJournal.ie indicate a 25 percent increase in business insolvencies across Ireland in the first quarter of 2010 compared to the same period last year. The number of insolvencies rose from 320 to 402.
The Clare companies reportedly in liquidation or receivership are:
– Kieran Wallace of KPMG was appointed receiver and manager by Ulster Bank Ireland Limited to JP O’Connor Construction Limited of Bawncross, Feakle, on January 13, 2010.
– Joseph Arkins of Arkins Kenny & Co was appointed liquidator to Haugh Woman Limited of Parnell Street, Ennis, on January 28, 2010.
– Joseph G Arkins of Arkins Kenny & Co was appointed liquidator to Crannog Homes Limited of Clonroadmore, Ennis, on January 7, 2010.
– Eamonn Leahy of was appointed liquidator to Colleran Fitted Furniture MFGS of Clonroadmore Business Park, Quin Road, Ennis, on December 31 2009.
– Richard Maguire of O’Donovan Caulfield Lavin was appointed official liquidator to Bellisle Properties Limited of Bellisle, Clonlara, on March 1, 2010. 
– Brian McEnery of Horwath Bastow Charleton was appointed receiver and manager by Bank of Scotland (Ireland) Limited to Bellisle Properties Limited of Bellisle, Clonlara, on March 25, 2010.
– Brian McEnery of Horwath Bastow Charleton was appointed receiver and manager by EBS Building Society to Nanor Developments Limited of Kildysart Road, Ennis, on February 11, 2010.
– Richard Maguire of O’Donovan Caulfield Lavin was appointed liquidator to Tuamgraney Roofing & Carpentry Limited of Ballyvannon, Tuamgraney, on February 9, 2010.
– Tom Doheny of Deloitte & Touche was appointed as receiver and manager to Keco Construction of Fountain, Ennis, on February 19, 2010.
– Joseph G Arkins of Arkins Kenny was appointed liquidator to Hayes of Ennis Limited on February 2, 2010.
– Eamonn Leahy of Leahy & Co was appointed liquidator to Dun Clar Limited of Ballingaddy, Ennistymon, on February 26, 2010.
