Traditional music to echo through West Clare

FEIS Cheoil, Inis Cathaigh will be held at the Kilrush Adult Education Centre on Saturday, March 13.

The feis will include traditional music competitions in all instruments for all youth age categories up to over 14. There will also be singing and brush-dance competitions.
Closing date for entry into the Feis is this Friday.
A number of perpetual shields will be awarded, including the Mrs Crotty Shield for concertina, PJ Crotty Shield for flute, Tom Rynne Shield for accordion, Mick Eustace Memorial Shield for fiddle, Inis Cathaigh CCÉ Shield for tin whistle, Peadar Crotty Memorial Shield for slow airs and the Kilrush Credit Union Shield for Overall Musician of 2010.
Meanwhile, the Kilmihil Traditional Festival will be held from March 19 to 21. The seisiún competition will be held over three days, if required. There are no heats; the results of the weekend will be read on the Sunday night.
Entries are limited and are taken on a first-come first-served basis.
The maximum amount of musicians per group, is eight and the minimum is four. Musicians/performers must be over 18 years of age.
The emphasis of this competition will be on Irish traditional music, variety within the performance, through the medium of song, recitation, and dance.
