Thursday was All-Ireland Poetry Day and to mark the occasion author Ruth Marshall read a selection of her work. A number of people in the audience also joined in to read other poetry and some read their own work.
The Clare Women’s Network Community Singing Group entertained the attendance with a selection of songs from around the world.
The artwork created by members of Keeping Mum was also on display. The exhibition, which is an exploration of personal journeys to motherhood, will travel to Toronto in a few weeks.
Exhibition curator, Ennis-based artist Martina Hynan, was overwhelmed by the support they received. “The generous support will help us continue our work and enable us to offer more workshops on mothering and motherhood to women in County Clare,” she said.
She also paid tribute to all those who helped in putting the various elements of the evening together.
