Orange Weather Alert in place for Clare

Clare County Council has upgraded from Yellow to Orange its rainfall warning for County Clare. The council said the “Yellow” weather alert previously issued by Met Eireann has been upgraded to “Orange” since this afternoon meaning that between 40 and 60mm of rainfall is likely in County Clare over the 22 hour period until midday tomorrow, Friday, November 14. As a result, it is anticipated that there will be significant localised flooding in places. People who have experienced flooding in the past are advised to take appropriate precautions.

Yellow weather warning

Met Éireann has issued a yellow weather warning of gale force winds from a north westerly direction overnight and into tomorrow morning. Coastal areas are most at risk. This weather will coincide with high tides tomorrow morning. The tides are not spring tides, however Clare County Council is urging persons who are exposed to north westerly winds in particular to be vigilant over this period. People who have previously experienced flooding situations are advised to take appropriate precautions.

Orange Weather Alert

Met Éireann has issued an orange weather alert across the country on Tuesday, and the public are being warned to expect thunderstorm activity along with widespread heavy and thundery showers . Some of these will be intense thundery downpours and may lead to flash flooding in places as a result the Road Safety Authority (RSA) have urged road users to take extra care when using the roads. The RSA has advised when driving in these wet and windy conditions it takes longer to stop a vehicle on wet roads and as such motorists should slow down and allow extra distance between you and the vehicle in front. The roads authority also warns motorists to take special care when driving behind goods vehicles as they generate a considerable amount of spray leading to reduced visibility.
