Wexford end Clare’s winning run

Wexford 0-20 Clare 1-13 A physically stronger Wexford ended Clare’s unbeaten run in this season’s Allianz hurling league at Wexford park this Sunday afternoon where they emerged as deserving winners. A powerful third quarter where they outscored Clare 0-8 to 0-1 proved decisive for the home side as they bounced back from last week’s loss to Tipperary. Clare played with the aid of the breeze in the first half and went to the break with a point point lead, 0-8 to 0-7. Champions still unbeaten

With just five week to the first round of the Clare senior and intermediate hurling championships, a greater sharpness was evident as round 2 of the various adult hurling leagues were played this week. Double champions Sixmilebridge have full points after their latest outing when they were two points winners over Inagh-Kilnamona. Kilmaley are also unbeaten as they ran up an impressive tally of 4-17 when they defeated O’Callaghans Mills who scored 1-8. Newmarket are also unbeaten after two rounds, thanks to a five point win over Feakle while Clonlara are the other side with maximum points in division 1 A after a 0-17 to 1-7 win over Whitegate. Cratloe got off the mark and they looked quite sharp in their 1-21 to 0-7 win over Crusheen with Conor McGrath sparkling with 0-9 from play while Podge Collins was their goal scorer, turning a David O’Brien delivery past Donal Tuohy. Sixmilebridge complete senior double

Sixmilebridge 0-18 Crusheen 1-13 A memorable year for Sixmilebridge senior hurlers concluded at Shannon on a sunny November afternoon with victory over Crusheen in the Clare Champion cup, senior hurling league, final. The merited win saw the Bridge complete the senior double as they had earlier won the championship title (Canon Hamilton trophy) while the win also saw the side go through the domestic season without suffering a defeat. They concluded their memorable season in front of new Clare senior hurling coach Donal Og Cusack who attended the game in the company of team manager Davy Fitzgerald from Sixmilebridge.
