Bringing new colour to Ennis

A free clinic on appropriate colour schemes for Ennis property owners will be held at the Temple Gate Hotel on Monday, May 29 next from 6.15 p.m. The free workshop, which is being facilitated by Dulux Paints Ireland, forms part of the recently announced Ennis Town Centre Paint Scheme 2017. Workshop attendees are invited to bring along a colour photograph of their property and a Dulux consultant will provide individual advice on the most appropriate colour scheme for the relevant property. Under the Ennis Town Centre Paint Scheme 2017, financial assistance is being provided by Clare County Council to the owners and occupiers of new and existing commercial premises in the town centre who carry out improvements, external painting and, in particular, to the visible aspects of their properties. Grant amounts of up to €700 or 50% of the cost of any planned works will be provided by the local authority to applicants successful under the scheme.

Council to get all creative

CLARE County Council and the Creative Ireland national team are to host an open meeting on Thursday, at the Temple Gate Hotel at 7.30pm. On the evening, they will share details about the Creative Ireland programme and look at exploring opportunities to increase access, engagement and collaboration in the local arts and creative industries. Enabling creativity in every community is a core pillar of the Creative Ireland programme, an ambitious five-year initiative, from 2017 to 2022, which aims to place culture and creative communities at the centre of creative policy. Creative Ireland is to lead on the development of a dedicated culture and creativity plan for the county, based on the premise that participation in cultural activity drives personal and collective creativity, with significant implications for individual and societal wellbeing. The workshop, which is being facilitated by Dulux Paints Ireland and supported by Local Enterprise Office Clare, forms part of the recently announced Ennis Streetscape Improvement Scheme 2016. Under the Clare County Council scheme, financial assistance is being provided to the owners and occupiers of new and existing commercial premises in the town centre who carry out improvements, external painting in particular, to the front of their properties. Grant amounts of up to €700 or 50% of the cost of any planned works will be provided by the local authority to applicants successful under the scheme, the closing date for which is Friday next.
