A body was recovered from the base of the Cliffs of Moher on Wednesday afternoon. It is believed that the man is in his 20s and from Galway. The recovery was made during a search as a person had been seen falling from the Cliffs of Moher on Tuesday. Among those involved in the search on Tuesday and Wednesday were the Doolin based Irish Coastguard, Shannon based Rescue 115 and Gardai. The man was removed from the cliffs and brought to the Irish Coastguard building in Doolin before being removed to University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem and identification.    

A body has been recovered from the base of the Cliffs of Moher, during a search for a missing woman. A search was launched late on Saturday night for a missing tourist believed to be in her 40s. The body was recovered on Sunday afternoon and was taken to University Hospital Limerick for formal identification and post mortem.

Figures just released by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry for vehicle sales for the first quarter of this year show that new car sales are up by 26% on last year. At almost 50,000 cars sold, the first quarter of this year has outperformed all other periods since 2008. Sales in March are up 23%, reflecting a continuation of the consumer confidence that has been apparent since the start of the year. The Commercial Vehicle market is also positive, with light commercial/van sales up 43% this quarter and up 45% in March alone. Heavy commercial/truck sales are up 40% so far this year and 31% in March alone. ENNIS born internationally-renowned artist Mick O’Dea has described his recent accident, which left him with serious injuries, as a “very close call.” The award-winning artist was brought to the Mater Hospital for surgery after an accident on Dublin’s O’Connell Street in January. He said he was “very lucky” to have escaped with his life. Mr O’Dea is now recovering at his home in Dublin, having spent a week in hospital, where he spent a number of days in intensive care. “I just have to take it easy now for a couple more weeks and try and heal,” he told The Clare Champion. He said the impact “shattered” his spleen, which had to be surgically removed. He praised the surgical team and all at the Mater Hospital saying “they saved me”. The accident occurred on January 17 when Mr O’Dea was cycling on O’Connell Street. He recalled, “I was cycling along O’Connell Street and somebody walked out in front of me …
