HSE support for Cuan An Chlair

The announcement by the HSE that it is to support Cuan An Chlair Ltd so that it can open its day care centre has been described by Junior Minister Pat Breen as a huge vote of confidence in the company. “The HSE is to provide €170,000 so that the new day care centre on the grounds of Cahercalla in Ennis can now open. This funding will allow the centre to open and respond to up to 60 people per day for an initial period of one year. During this time the HSE will work to secure the more permanent funding beds. “Cuan an Chlair will provide an essential service to older people in our community, and I am confident its daycare centre has become an integral part of the lives of so many people in the Ennis area,” he added, said Mr Breen. Minister Breen in Dubai

Minister for Employment and Small Business Pat Breen is leading an Enterprise Ireland trade visit to Arab Health in Dubai, the largest healthcare exhibition and conference in the MENA region today (Monday). The trade visit focuses on maximising business opportunities for the 20 Enterprise Ireland Irish client companies attending the healthcare exhibition and conference which is expected to surpass the 2016 attendance levels of 4,000 exhibitors and over 130,000 visitors from 163 countries. 100 new jobs at Element Six

Element Six, a world leader in synthetic diamond super-materials and member of The De Beers Group of Companies, has today (Friday) announced the creation of a further 100 jobs at its Shannon facility as part of a €7 million investment at the plant this year. The investment – officially announced today at a briefing at the plant hosted by Element Six Executive Director of Operations Ken Sullivan and attended by Minister of State at the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Pat Breen and the company’s global CEO Mr. Walter Hühn – will bring to €40 million the overall spend by Element Six at Shannon over a four year period. The positions are in the areas of supply chain, engineering and manufacturing, with recruitment already underway and all posts set to be filled in the first half of this year. Breen on trade mission in Poland

Minister for Employment and Small Business Pat Bren is leading an Enterprise Ireland trade visit to Warsaw, Poland today (Friday). The aim of the trade visit is to enable Irish suppliers to make new high-level business contacts in Poland’s ICT, services, retail and engineering solutions sectors. In 2015, Enterprise Ireland clients generated €247 million of exports to Poland, up from €243 million in 2014, representing a 2% growth. Minister Breen is to address a trade dinner attended by 65 companies, many of whom are Polish business partners and potential customers for Enterprise Ireland clients Mr Breen is to visit the Polish manufacturing facility of JFC, a company based in Tuam, County Galway, which designs and manufactures plastic products for the agriculture, construction/civils, aquaculture and marine and material handling. Also on the agenda was a meeting with members of the Global Irish Network in Poland at a breakfast hosted by Gerard Keown, the Irish Ambassador to Poland.

Breen returns from trade mission to India

Enterprise Ireland’s Trade Mission to India, led by the Minister of State for Employment and Small Business, Pat Breen, concluded on Sunday. Thirteen Irish companies from the aviation, financial services, pharmaceuticals and health, ICT and education sectors travelled to Mumbai, Bengaluru and New Delhi. During the mission, a numberof deals and partnerships were signed. As expanding opportunities for Irish companies in the aviation sector was a key objective of the mission, Minister Breen met with the Indian Minister for Civil Aviation and addressed the Aero Expo India attended by key policy and decision makers and stakeholders from the Indian aviation, aerospace, air cargo & allied industries. Before departing India, Minister Breen said, “This trade mission was a valuable exercise in promoting Ireland as a welcoming country for Indian students to come to Ireland pursue a world-class education. Clare schools benefit from grants

A total of 114 primary schools in County Clare are to benefit from the Minor Works Grant for the 2016/2017 school year. Minister for Employment and Small Business Pat Breen, commenting on the announcement, said, “This grant is worth €5,500 per school plus €18.50 per mainstream pupil and €74 per special needs pupil to 114 schools in Clare. This means €6,425 for a 50 pupil school and over €11,000 for a 300 pupil school. The schools will receive the funds over the coming weeks.” The works that can be undertaken under the Minor Works Grant include improvements to school buildings and grounds, improvement or replacement of mechanical and electrical services, the purchase of standard furniture and physical education equipment, the purchase of floor coverings and window blinds and the purchase of IT related equipment. Ennis hosts Jobs Week events

Minister for Employment and Small Business Pat Breen has urged employers and jobseekers in Clare to find out more about Jobs Week, which runs from Monday next. During Jobs Week events are held right across Ireland, giving information about employment supports and services which are available to employers and jobseekers. In Clare there will be an information stand in the DSP Ennis office on Tuesday and in the Ennis Shopping Centre on Thursday. “Whether you’re looking for work or for a new job, services on offer include advice on applying for jobs, preparing CVs and interview skills as well as job offers. Employers also have an opportunity to find new staff from their local area,” Minister Breen said. “Unemployment has almost halved, from a peak of 15% to 8.4% today, and long-term unemployment is down to 4.4%.
