Kinvara man still missing in Malaysia

AS of this Monday, Stephen Warde from Kinvara, who was last seen in Malaysia on December 28, has still not been located. Mr Warde’s mother, Mary Morrissey travelled out to Kuala Lumpar,Malaysia over the weekend to help with the search for her son and is accompanied by two of her daughters. The Department of Foreign Affairs is is providing consular assistance and is co-operating with local police in the investigation to find his whereabouts. Stephen Warde (32) from Kinvara, Co Galway arrived in Malaysia alone on November 15 last and rented a unit at the Mercu Summer Suites along Jalan Sultan Ismail in Kuala Lumpar. He was last seen on December 28, a day before his tenancy was to expire. All of his belongings were still in the unit when searched by police. Bridget is right on trend

ENNIS hair stylist Bridget Haren proved that she’s a cut above the rest by coming home from the World Hairdressing Championships in Malaysia with the gold medal in the ‘progressive cut and colour’ section of the competition. But there was no resting on her laurels for the owner of Altamoda Hair on Woodquay in Ennis. When she returned from Kuala Lumpur, it was straight back to work. “I arrived back in Ireland on Tuesday night and I worked 12 hours on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday,” Bridget said. Her world championship-winning progressive cut and colour was fashioned on a mannequin and following days of preparation, she had 30 minutes to complete the cut. “I rehearsed what I was going to do in five easy steps for myself, so when I went on to the floor, I just had to keep my head and make sure that I didn’t make any mistakes. Chinese getting a flavour of Shannon Hotel College

Executives of a leading hotel group in the Far East travelled to Shannon College of Hotel Management this week to learn the ‘Irish way’ of hotel-keeping. The senior Gloria Hotels & Resorts Group executives spent a week undergoing an intensive course at the renowned college, which has educated some of the leading hoteliers in the world. The rapidly growing group has 63 four and five star hotels, which are mainly located in China but also in Malaysia and Japan, and employs 15,000 people. It is adding up to 20 new hotels to its portfolio each year. It is the latest international education coup for the Shannon College of Hotel Management, which in 2012 signed a deal with the Seychelles government for all hotel management students from the tourism archipelago to be educated through the college, including with one year in Ireland.
