Whiskey entrepreneur poised to become Nissan ambassador

A Clare emigrant who returned to her family farm in Cooraclare to create a business that has revived the traditional method of producing Irish whiskey is poised to become a Nissan Generation Next ambassador. Louise McGuane, (39), was one of almost 1,000 people who applied to the innovative ambassador programme which helps people to follow their dream and to get ahead with the backing and support of Nissan. This week she was named as one of 20 finalists put forward to the public voting stage of the programme and is now just one step away from landing the keys to a brand new, taxed and insured Nissan to drive for a year. “I am thrilled to make it through to the public vote. Every vote counts and I hope that the people of Clare will support me and my business by voting online,” said Louise. Rhode Island hub opens up US market for Clare enterprises

Clare County Council through the Local Enterprise Office Clare has embarked on a collaborative initiative to build stronger trading links with Providence in the north-eastern U.S. State of Rhode Island. A new business centre has been established in Providence to cater for County Clare enterprises seeking to enter the US market. The Ireland West International Trade Centre (IWITC) is also supported by local authorities in Sligo, Roscommon, Mayo, Leitrim and Galway. Twelve enterprises from across the West of Ireland have returned from a visit to Rhode Island where they engaged with various businesses and political leaders and explored the potential opportunities for winning business in the United States. Clare businesses were represented Louise McGuane of the Chapel Gate Irish Whiskey Coin Coraclare and Aidan Quilligan, Sixmilebridge of Clubify.
