Patients benefiting from holistic healthcare model

Patients in the Ul Hospitals Group (ULHG) Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) at the University of Limerick (UL) are benefiting from a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to their ongoing rehabilitation when they are transferred to the facility from the group’s acute hospitals. The ICF was opened on June 8 in the reconfigured main hall of the UL Sport Arena, a fully equipped temporary hospital setting for non Covid-19 or post Covid-19 patients who no longer require acute medical attention, but who can benefit from ongoing rehabilitation and support before final discharge. In the ICF rehabilitation is the primary focus, based on a rounded, holistic vision of healthcare and wellbeing. Medical and healthcare expertise is directed toward supporting the patient’s readiness for discharge, not just physically building their strength and communication skills, but also preparing them mentally and helping to ensure their home or residential care setting is optimised before their discharge. New Regional Health Area will transform Clare healthcare delivery – Deputy Carey

  IT HAS been claimed that the establishment of a new Mid West regional health area will transform the delivery of healthcare in Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary. That’s the view of Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Carey who said that the establishment of six new regional health areas will result in clear financial and performance accountability. “This is a key step in delivering Sláintecare and is another step towards a vital reform of our health service. HSE cancels non essential services for safety reasons

    The Mid-West HSE Community Healthcare Department has decided to cancel all non essential community healthcare services scheduled for Monday due to Hurricane Ophelia. In a statement issued on Monday morning, the health authority confirmed all non emergency healthcare will not operate  on Monday and the majority of its local buildings are closed. All residential and emergency services will operate as normal and to the best of the authority’s capability in the expected storm force conditions.   Staff colleagues at the UL Hospitals’ Group have restricted all services to emergency with ED and Local Injury Units operating.  Ambulance services are as normal for emergency work. The group  has cancelled all outpatient appointments, day surgery and elective procedures in University Hospital Limerick, University Maternity Hospital Limerick, Nenagh Hospital, Ennis Hospital, Croom Orthopaedic Hospital and St John’s Hospital on Monday. TTM creating jobs worldwide

The CEO of healthcare recruitment company TTM, which has announced 500 new jobs over the next five years, has committed to continue pushing for job creation in the region. Brian Crowley has confirmed that all of the new jobs announced will be Irish based, with 75 of those set to be created in Clare. The company currently employ 80 staff at its headquarters in Ballymaley and there are plans to expand the workforce at the site. There will also be jobs created in the resilience care sector of the company, providing outreach, respite and residential services for children and adults with disabilities and home-based services for people with complex medical needs.
