Recall of Kinder products extended for all best before dates

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has today advised that Ferrero is extending its recall of products due to possible presence of salmonella. The recall has been extended to implicated Kinder products of all best before dates and all pack sizes of Kinder Schokobons. The investigation into a food poisoning outbreak of Salmonella, which is affecting Ireland, the UK and a number of other European countries is ongoing. To date, there have been 15 cases in Ireland with the same strain of Salmonella responsible for the UK outbreak. A number of these Irish cases have involved young children. The FSAI is warning consumers who may have the recalled products at home not to eat them. More items from Kinder range recalled over salmonella fears

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has advised that Ferrero is extending its current food recall to include some additional Kinder products due to a link with an ongoing food poisoning outbreak of Salmonella. The outbreak is affecting Ireland, the UK and a number of other European countries and to date, there have been ten cases in this country with the same strain of Salmonella responsible for the UK outbreak. A number of these Irish cases have involved young children, all of whom have fully recovered. The FSAI is warning consumers who may have the recalled products at home not to eat them. This recall relates to other Kinder products that have been added to the recall. Public warned against buying counterfeit chocolate bars

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has warned consumers not to buy or eat Wonka branded chocolate bars, due to an increase in reports that counterfeit chocolate bars bearing this brand name are for sale on the market in Ireland. The authority warned the counterfeit chocolate bars may be unsafe to eat, as there is a possibility that they may not have been produced in line with food safety, hygiene and/or food traceability legal requirements to protect public health. Some examples of the issues identified to date with these counterfeit Wonka branded chocolate bars include: failure to provide an accurate ingredients list e.g., undeclared ingredients and allergens on the label false business name and address on the label the rewrapping of various shop bought or homemade chocolate bars in Wonka wrappers unregistered food businesses selling products online Commenting, Dr Pamela Byrne, Chief Executive, FSAI urges consumers to be aware of the possible risks posed by these counterfeit chocolate bars. …

Meat withdrawn in Gort shop over safety concerns

A number of food products were withdrawn from a Gort grocery shop and meat distributor last month because of food-safety violations. Galway County Council issued a prohibition order, served on Real Brazil manager Sean Fahey at No 3 Sliabh Carran, Ennis Road, Gort on February 7, withdrawing all products held in a fridge and freezer at the back of the premises. This order was lifted on February 24. On the same date, an order issued by the Health Service Executive under the EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs Regulations 2010)  was served on Anaelson B Dias at Real Brazil, Unit 6, The Grove, Crowe Street in the town. A specified consignment of meat products was withdrawn from the grocery shop. This issue was lifted on Monday, March 3.
