€51,000 of suspected cannabis seized in Kilrush

GARDAI seized €51,000 of suspected cannabis plants as part of two separate investigations in Kilrush, on Tuesday. As part of an ongoing operation targeting the cultivation of drugs in West Clare, uniform Gardaí executed a search warrant at a house in the Kilrush area at around 8pm. During the course of the search they discovered approximately 60 suspected cannabis plants worth an estimated €48,000. In another unrelated search in Kilrush on the same evening, Gardaí seized €3,000 of suspected cannabis plants. All of the suspected drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis. No arrests have been made in either investigation but Gardaí are following definite lines of enquiry.

Over €22,000 of suspected cannabis seized in Tulla

GARDAÍ have seized over €22,000 of suspected cannabis in the Tulla area following a search by the Clare Garda Divisional Drugs Unit at around 5pm on, Tuesday, May 24, 2021. During the course of the search Gardaí discovered a quantity suspected cannabis plants, at various stages of growth, with a street value of €21,600. The plants were located in a greenhouse on the property. Gardaí also seized €1,000 of suspected cannabis herb. The suspected drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis. A man, aged in his 40s, was arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Ennis Garda Station. He was later released from custody and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Drug seizure in Scariff

GARDAÍ arrested a man and seized approximately €10,000 of suspected cannabis herb in Scariff on Tuesday. At around 10pm detectives from Killaloe Garda Station, assisted by the Divisional Drugs Unit and Armed Support Unit, executed a search warrant at a house in Scariff. During the course of the search Gardaí seized €10,000 of suspected cannabis herb, €400 in cash and a weighing scales. A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested at the scene and brought to Ennis Garda Station where he is currently detained under section 2 Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996. The suspected drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

Two arrested and cash, weapons and suspected drugs seized following Garda searches

SHORTLY after 10am this morning, uniform Gardaí in Ennistymon, assisted by the Garda Dog Unit, Armed Support Unit, the Divisional Drugs Unit, Customs Revenue Officers and Social Welfare Inspectors, executed a number of search warrants in the Ennistymon area. During the course of the operation Gardaí seized €40,000 of suspected cannabis herb and a sum of cash believed to be in the region of €20,000. Gardaí also seized two suspected imitation firearms, slash hooks, knives, hatchets and a baton. Two men, aged in their 20s and 50s, were arrested and are currently detained at Kilrush Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996. The suspected drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

Cocaine Seized And Two Arrested In Ennis

Gardaí have seized drugs worth in excess of €30,000 and arrested two men during a planned operation in Ennis. The operation yesterday was carried out as part of ongoing investigations targeting the sale and distribution of illegal drugs and associated criminal activity in the Clare Division. In the course of the operation a number of locations were searched including a house in Ennis where cocaine with an estimated value in excess of €30,000 (analysis pending) was seized by investigating Gardaí. Two men aged in their 30s were arrested and brought to Ennis Garda Station. Both men are currently detained under section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 and can be held for up to seven days. The investigation is ongoing.

Drugs seized in Ennistymon

Gardaí seized €7,200 of suspected drugs in Ennistymon on Wednesday. As part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of drugs in Ennistymon, Gardaí executed a search warrant at a house on the outskirts of Ennistymon Town. Gardaí from Ennistymon and Kilrush Garda Stations carried out the search at around 5pm. During the course of the search Gardaí seized €6,000 of suspected cannabis herb and €1,200 of suspected cocaine. All of the suspected drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis. Massive rise in drug supply offences

A HUGE increase in the detection of those selling and supplying drugs has been recorded in Clare over the course of 2020. Clare’s Joint Policing Committee (JPC) was told that there had been 115 such detections between January and December of last year, an increase of 39% on figures for 2019. Detections for possession of drugs was up by just over one-fifth, with 283 incidents last year. JPC member, Kilmurry-based Councillor Alan O’Callaghan described the increase in detections of both categories of crime, as positive. “If you think drugs aren’t a problem in every part of this county, then you’re oblivious,” he said. “The rate of drug use is simply shocking and it is good to see that the Gardaí are having more success in tackling the issue.
