Be a conference and sports event ambassador

Key figures in Shannon region companies have pledged to become conference and sports events ambassadors. An event in Dromoland Castle Hotel, hosted by Shannon Region Conference & Sports Bureau, in association with Fáilte Ireland and Shannon Chamber, sought to encourage a greater cohort of companies in the region to assess how they could bring a national or international conference, meeting, incentive group or a sporting event to the area. Karen Brosnahan, business manager for Shannon Region Conference & Sports Bureau said, “The bureau ambassador programme is running for over 10 years and has over 500 members.  A local ambassador is anyone who can influence a meeting, conference or event. The bureau, in partnership with Fáilte Ireland, offers a wide range of practical and financial supports to help ambassadors win business for their region. In 2015, the bureau secured €7million in economic impact between business and sports tourism with over 50% of events secured as a result of local ambassadors.” Mary Collins, Meet in …

Pitching Clare to Canadian Travel Agents

Six prominent Clare companies pitched their businesses to a group of 20 top Canadian travel agents who are in Ireland to attend the Fáilte Ireland’s autumn sales workshop. Representatives from the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience; Trump International Hotel & Golf Links, Doonbeg; Secret Ireland Escapes; Shannon Heritage; Dromoland Castle and Doolin Ferry Company attended the Canadian Destination Expo in Barbarstown Castle, Co Kildare. The workshop, which was organised by Fáilte Ireland in conjunction with Tourism Ireland, was the last in a series of six sales workshops which were organised to focus on attracting more overseas visitors from key markets including the North American market. Irish tourism businesses engaged in almost 8,500 one-to-one sales meetings with approximately 275 major travel agents and overseas buyers during the past weeks. Russian travel writers taking inspiration from Clare

Russian travel writers representing an inflight magazine and a fashion magazine, with a combined readership of hundreds of thousands of people, were in Clare this week, as part of their exploration of holiday destinations in Ireland. The visit was arranged by Tourism Ireland the their itinerary, designed by Fáilte Ireland, included a guided walk in the Burren National Park, as well as visits to the Aillwee Caves and the Cliffs of Moher. The writers stayed at the Old Ground Hotel in Ennis and Dromoland Castle. Tourism drive in New Zealand and Oz

Dromoland Castle and the Cliffs of Moher are among 12 Irish businesses touring New Zealand and Australia this week. During the eight-day sales blitz, they will meet hundreds of influential travel agents, tour operators and journalists, during specially tailored business-to-business workshop sessions and networking events – telling them all about what the island of Ireland has to offer holidaymakers. Tourism Ireland’s final overseas trade mission of 2014 takes in the cities of Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Action plan for jobs on target

The Government is well on target with its Action Plan for Jobs strategy, according to Taoiseach Enda Kenny. “We are on course to exceed our initial target of 100,000 new jobs by the end of next year, he said at Shannon Chamber’s annual president’s lunch in Dromoland Castle today (Monday). Another jobs announcement today in Ennis shows that new jobs are being created across the country and not just in Dublin. The recent budget was designed to secure recovery further – promoting new jobs and investment in the regions, working across the economy and across the country with businesses like those represented here today. Dromoland Castle joins enterprise promotion

Dromoland Castle was represented on a delegation of business tourism enterprises from around the country that took part in a Showcase Ireland promotion in Manchester. The event, organised by Tourism Ireland as part of its push to grow corporate meetings and association conference business, was attended by 40 influential business tourism buyers from Manchester and the north of England. Involving a B2B (business-to-business) workshop and networking opportunities, it proved to be a valuable platform for the Irish delegation to showcase and sell their product and to communicate what is unique about Clare and Ireland as a world-class destination for business tourism. Clare participants in Canadian tourism expo

County Clare was well represented among a 78-strong Irish tourism industry group at a Fáilte Ireland-hosted workshop targeted at the Canadian market. Dromoland Castle, Doolin 2 Aran Ferries, Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience and Shannon Ferries were involved in the first in a series of custom-made workshops in Clontarf Castle Hotel, Dublin on Friday last. The Canadian Expo workshop saw 78 Irish tourism trade meet with 20 Canadian agents who were very keen to develop business contacts and business relationships with Ireland. The vastness of Canada, and with the agents coming from many locations within Canada, was seen as a great opportunity and very cost effective means for the Industry to meet the agents. Americans seek out Clare hot spots

Representatives of some of the top American business tourism companies, as well as journalists from two leading American business publications, are on a fact-finding visit to Clare and Ireland this week, as guests of Tourism Ireland, in conjunction with Irish destination management company, Irish Horizons. The group’s itinerary includes a tour of the facilities at Dromoland Castle; and visits to the Burren, the Cliffs of Moher and Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. The group includes two specialist journalists writing for the business tourism sector in the United States – for the publications Global Traveler magazine and Hotel Management – as well as senior representatives of companies involved in the MICE (meetings, incentive, conferences and events) industry, who organise international conferences, meetings and large-scale incentive events around the world.
