Great pride in Clare

Up to 1,000 people from all over Ireland will gather in Ennis in November for a ceremony hosted by Clare County Council and Cooperation Ireland. The occasion is the IPB Pride of Place Awards and it will be the first time in the 13-year history of the all-island competition that the same county has hosted the ceremony two years running. It will be held once again at Treacys West County Hotel on November 14. This will also be the first time the awards ceremony will be streamed live and the organisers say this will be of particular interest to Irish people abroad. Taking great pride in Clare

The prestigious IPB Pride of Place Awards will be hosted in Clare once again. Co-operation Ireland and IPB Insurance, who run the annual competition in conjunction with local authorities north and south of the border, have informed Clare County Council of their decision to award the hosting of the 2015 event in the Banner County. It is the first time in the 12-year history of the all-island competition that the same county has hosted the ceremony two years running. Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council, John Crowe said the local authority “looks forward to welcoming communities from all over the island of Ireland to the county later this year.” “Clare County Council was delighted to have played a key role in organising a hugely successful event for Cooperation Ireland in November. Bursting with pride in Ennis

Up to 800 people from all over the island of Ireland will gather in Ennis next week for the 2014 IPB Pride of Place Awards. This year’s ceremony takes place on Saturday, November 15 at Treacy’s West County Hotel and is being hosted by Clare County Council and Cooperation Ireland, which runs the competition north and south of the border. IPB Pride of Place, which was first piloted in the summer of 2003 and came from the Local Authority All-Island Steering Forum, aims to recognise and celebrate the vital contributions that communities make to society. Clare is being represented in this year’s competition by Lisdoonvarna Fáilte Ltd. in Category 3 for population centres of between 750 and 1,500 people, Clarecastle Community Development Ltd. in Category 4 for population centres of between 1,500 and 4,000 people, Tuamgraney Community Woodland in Category 6 (Eco Community Initiative), and Clarisford Ltd.
