One person arrested after seizure of drugs, cash and designer goods in Ennis

Gardaí have arrested one person following the seizure of a quantity of drugs, cash and designer goods in Ennis. Gardaí in Ennis arrested a motorist last Saturday afternoon after he failed to stop when instructed. During a follow-up operation which included searches under warrant of a residential property in Ennis, suspected cocaine and cannabis to the value of approximately €15,500 were seized. A sum of cash and a quantity of designer goods were also confiscated. The drugs have been sent for forensic analysis and investigations into the matter are ongoing. The arrested individual who is a male in his 20s, was subsequently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda Station in County Clare. He has since been released without charge, and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Drugs and cash seized in searches

Gardaí have seized €14,500 worth of suspected drugs and cash during searches in counties Clare and Limerick during the past week. As part of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in Limerick city, 14 searches were carried out by the Limerick Divisional Drug Unit, in conjunction with detectives, uniformed gardaí, the Armed Support Unit and Southern Region Dog Unit. These searches took place in the Meelick area of Clare and in Garryowen, St. Mary’s Park, Kileely, Island Road, Moyross, Old Cork Road and Prospect area of Co. Limerick. During the searches gardaí seized €4,000 alprazolam, €2,900 cannabis, €920 cocaine and €30 alprazolam along with €6,650 in cash. Gardaí also seized drug paraphernalia such as a cocaine press and deal bags. All of the suspected drugs will now be sent for analysis. Conway calls for better ATM facilities

Better ATM facilities are needed in the popular tourist areas in the county, Fine Gael senator Martin Conway has said. The Ennistymon senator has also sharply criticised the banks’ management of ATM facilities in North and West Clare over the busy summer period. Senator Conway said: “Last weekend was one of the busiest weekends of the year for many tourism areas particularly County Clare as visitor numbers flocked to our tourist attractions at the Cliffs of Moher and along the Wild Atlantic Way. “Numbers continue to grow this week with the ever popular Fleadh Cheoil taking place in Ennis. “When people visit our area they like to spend money and we encourage them to do so, but unfortunately they were unable to access cash facilities as all ATMs were out of service in North and West Clare for most of the weekend. “This happens on a regular basis and is unacceptable for local people, but it also severely impacts the …
