New challenge for Nandi

SHANNON Development has appointed Nandi O’Sullivan as corporate communications manager following the retirement of Frank Larkin, who had held the position for 11 years.

Originally from Wexford, she has worked in Shannon Development’s communication department since 1988. She was appointed senior press and communications executive in 1995. In this role, she managed an extensive domestic and international media and public relations programme on behalf of Shannon Development and its subsidiary companies.
Commenting on her new role, Ms O’Sullivan said, “I am looking forward to playing my part in getting the message out there that County Clare and the Shannon Region is a world-class location in which to live, work, learn and spend leisure time.”
Ms O’Sullivan acknowledged that Shannon Development has fallen on lean times since the arrival of recession but said the regional development company has weathered other storms.
“The last few years have been hard on every aspect of the Irish economy. Nowhere in Ireland has escaped the impact of the global economic downturn. But Shannon Development has a solid 50-year track record of delivering initiatives for the Shannon Region, through good times and bad. Under our new chief executive, Dr Vincent Cunnane, the company has restructured its operations and is focused firmly on the future. Shannon Development intends to continue to play its part in ensuring that County Clare and the Shannon Region is a world-class region where people will want to live, work and spend leisure time,” she said.
She is optimistic that some recovery may be coming. “While there are some signs that fragile green shoots of economic spring may be emerging and this is welcome news, we need to ensure that these delicate shoots are nurtured. This will involve having the right mix of business supports, continuing to get the message into the international marketplace that Ireland is open for business, stocking the shelves and keeping an eye on emerging business opportunities globally. This is where Shannon Development’s focus will be firmly rooted in the future,” she concluded.
