Shannon teams won both the U-12 and U-16 competitions in the Clare Community Games chess finals, which took place last Sunday in Killimer. The co-ordinators were John Cassidy and Connie Keane.

Nine teams took part in the U-12 competition, with seven teams battling for the U-16 title.
The standard was high in both age groups, with Shannon winning both and they now go forward to represent the county in the Munster finals, which will take place at the University of Limerick on Saturday, March 27, when Clare will be the hosts.
