Glitz and glamour at business launch

More than 300 people came out last week to watch as three new business ventures were launched in Ennis. Parking was at a premium on the Clonroad as cars began arriving from around 7.30pm for an evening of cocktails and canapés at the premises of Louise Brooks Photography, close to the Tesco Roundabout.
Louise admits that the turnout was higher than expected.
“I can’t get over it. We were in the marquee talking to people. Then we popped out the back where we waited for Marty Morrissey to arrive. He was MC on the night. It was like having a wedding and no priest. When we left the marquee, it was about half full. Then we came back 20 minutes later and there was no room for anyone. It was wedged,” she recalls. “Even though it was a Tuesday night, really the crowd wasn’t hampered.”
Award-winning hair stylist Bridget Haren was launching her new hair salon, which shares a building with Louise. Bridget orchestrated a hairshow in which models walked and danced the catwalk showcasing the latest trends. The models wore up styles, wigs, extensions, bright colours and loose curls, offering something to suit all tastes.
Louise announced details of a new business, the first of its kind in the Mid-West, which provides a complete portfolio solution to aspiring models and ‘normal women’, who want a selection of good-quality photos for their walls.
Louise has secured a franchise for Fresh, a concept whereby a person arranges an appointment, gets styled, has make-up applied professionally, gets their hair done and then gets a selection of photographs taken of them for use in a portfolio, if they so wish, or alternatively for wall hanging.
For Louise, Fresh was the logical step with stylist Bridget in house but the project is not exclusively limited to just the two of them. On the night of the launch, Louise put a call out to other image professionals, inviting them to contact her and become part of the project.
“There are opportunities for hair stylists, fashion stylists, make-up artists or other image professionals. We want to build up a team of talented people across the county. It is not about one or two people, it is about people working together and providing a service not just in Ennis but all over Clare,” Louise states.
Former Miss Ireland contestant Orla Sexton also launched her new business, Orla Sexton Modelling, on the night. She announced that she now offers grooming and deportment classes, as well as sharing her own experiences with aspiring models.
Held in a chandelier-lit marquee, the launch attracted men and women from around the county. The night was punctuated by music and classical singing and after food and drink and a fill of fashion, the crowd dispersed to an after-party.
